BIOGRAPHY
On arriving in London from South Africa's apartheid, I was granted a British Council Post-graduate Study Award (Modern Literature and Drama) and taught the Literature Diploma at Birkbeck, London University’s Extra-Mural Department, and later continued to teach on Metropolitan University’s Script Writing course, and as a writing tutor for City Lit and Morley College, completing an MA (Psychology, UNISA) and a PhD (Philosophy) Roehampton University, London.)
Mr Bennett and Miss Smith about Arnold Bennett and the South African writer Pauline Smith, was performed at the Old Red Lion (Arts Council Award). The adaptation of Olive Schreiner's The Story of an African Farm was performed at the Young Vic, London, and and on BBC Radio 4 and published (methuen/drama). The Crystal Den, a play about Karl Marx's daughter Eleanor, and the Marx family's secrets, was performed at the New End Theatre, London and published (methuen/drama). The graphic novel Home Number One, on children in the Holocaust, was later published.

With the help of the Arts Council, Loki Books was founded to publish literary writers in translation by women.
and was granted a British Council Travel Award to attend 'Women and Peace in the Mediterranean', and edited a collection of peace plays by these women (Plays by Mediterranean Women (Aurora Metro), then founded my own small press, Loki Books, with Arts Council funding.
Reading and Expressive Writing with Traumatised Children, Young Refugees and Asylum Seekers (Hachette, London (2014), outlines the work done with literature and young asylum seekers. 'This book has a sense of straddling continents of theory and practice. Simultaneously intimate and vast, it moves beyond the topic of using reading and expressive writing with traumatised children, young refugees and asylum seekers into research and developments in writing for therapeutic purposes' (Claire Williamson).
